The all-terrain vehicle (ATV) simulator gives people a chance to experience what it is like to ride an actual ATV. One of the new and different ways the DNR is working to engage the next generation in the outdoors.
An instructor controls the movement of an actual ATV to let adults and kids feel how their center of balance must shift as the ATV is tilted sideways and up or down as if they were traveling across a hill. This simulator provides an opportunity to teach safe riding techniques, which includes wearing proper equipment (helmet, gloves, long pants, boots). Safe riding techniques are also emphasized in the ATV safety training courses that are required for anyone born after July 1, 1987, and highly recommended to anyone new to the sport. You will also learn about safety training, where to ride and how to get started in the sport.
The Interactive simulator is brought to the show by MN DNR Parks and Trails and the North Shore ATV Club.
